Tim Knowles - Tree Drawings (2006)

Artist’s statement:

"A series of drawings produced using drawing implements attached to the tips of tree branches, the wind’s effects on the tree recorded on paper.

Like signatures, each drawing reveals the different qualities and characteristics of each tree.”

Will you come with me to the mountains? It will hurt at first, until your feet are hardened. Reality is harsh to the feet of shadows. But will you come?  |  C.S. Lewis

We are not meant to come here and be bonded to someone forever. We are meant to follow our individual bliss and let the universe line us up with someone who is a match to that bliss…

The law of attraction is managing and bringing you together with relationships that serve your expansion the very most for the moment that you’re in.

"How-how did I get here?"
“It would take another Earthling to explain it to you. Earthlings are the great explainers, explaining why this event is structured as it is, telling how other events may be achieved or avoided. I am a Tralfamaforian, seeing all time as you might see a stretch of the Rocky Mountains. All time is all time. It does not change. It does not lend itself to warnings or explanations. It simply is. Take is moment by moment, and you will find that we are all, as I’ve said before, bugs in amber.”
“You sound to me as though you don’t believe in free will,” said Billy Pilgrim.

“If I hadn’t spent so much time studying Earthlings, said the Tralfamadorian, “I wouldn’t have any idea what was meant by ‘free will.’ I’ve visited thirty-one inhabited planets in the universe, and I have studied reports on one hundred more. Only on Earth is there any talk of free will.” ―

We think that by protecting ourselves from suffering, we are being kind to ourselves. The truth is we only become more fearful, more hardened and more alienated. We experience ourselves as being separate from the whole. This separateness becomes like a prison for us—a prison that restricts us to our personal hopes and fears, and to caring only for the people nearest to us. Curiously enough, if we primarily try to shield ourselves from discomfort, we suffer. Yet, when we don’t close off, when we let our hearts break, we discover our kinship with all beings. ―Pema Chodron (via lazyyogi)
